Apparently, game sales were down in November and December. Also, with new consoles being announced by Sony and Nintendo, EA is taking this time to lay off more than 300 staff members of all different pay grades and job skill levels.

Last year we had planned to get things rolling for a LAN Party in January. Since the holidays and birthdays around this time seem to swallow up a bunch of time we’re pushing those plans to late February early March. We’re going to setup a voting system for games and some other stuff so stay tuned…
So I won a ‘lot’ of famicom games on eBay. I received 6 or 7 games for about $10. The cool thing is–they came directly from Japan. One of them is the Japanese NES version of the Untouchables based on the film with Sean Connery. Three of them I can’t play because they require you to be able to read in Japanese. It’s pretty funny to plug them in. My Famicom collection now includes (but is not limited to):
The Transformers
The Untouchables
Mah Jong
and Several Other Games I can’t pronounce.
I almost won an auction for a Superman Famicom cartridge on eBay recently. For those who don’t know, Famicom is the Japanese version of the NES. Boy, am I glad I didn’t win. I found a site that has an NES emulator and several ROMs. It has different screen sizes and works pretty well.Here is the Superman one. I’ve also added a perma-link to the sidebar for http://www.1980-games.com/.
The only piece of advice I can give to anyone who enjoys Superman is this: Don’t ever buy the NES/Famicom game. Superman can’t even fly. And he looks like a Weeble Wobble. The music is also incredibly lame.
I was surprised to learn that the NES version of Galaga is actually not that bad…
