George Costanza is no longer the all-time record holder in Frogger… be it the real or the surreal world. Pat Laffaye passed the fictional record of 860k with a score of 896,980.

vidtoastBelow is an interview by Leo Laporte with Kiki Stockhammer and Phillip Nelson.  In it Philip and Kiki (but mostly Kiki) talk about Kiki’s promotional work on Video Toaster for the Amiga and how she came to work with NewTek–the inventors of the famous software.  They also talk about  their latest efforts with the company which has a broadened vision in the television and film industry.  At one point,  the interview takes a turn and talks about Kiki’s involvement with the Star Trek-influenced band: Warp 11. There are some clips from their latest album!    To be perfectly honest, the main reason I’m posting this is that Kiki is F-ing hot. ;-)

Leo Laporte interview with Kiki Stockhammer & Phillip Nelson of Newtek

I thought we could start a post about what each of us will volunteer to bring to the 6th retro video-gaming party so we can minimize on dupe machines, consoles, games and whatnot.

I’m bringing:

  • 4 – 13″ Color TVs
  • 1 Black and White TV
  • Super Pong IV
  • Odyssey 4000 (Could use a color dial TV for this bad boy if anyone wants to bring one.)
  • Odyssey2 with ‘The Voice’. Games: Smithereens (the best of the voice games), U.F.O. and Sub Chase for sure.
  • Sega Genesis with 32X, Flight Stick with Afterburner and Probably SW: Arcade.
  • NES with some Rip Off Chinese games, some famicom classics and a few favorites. (Contra? Tecmo Super Bowl?)
  • Vectrex
  • Arcade:  Ms. Pac-Man or Tron.  Probably not both.
  • I may bring my Game Console stand too…
  • I’m going to bring a GBA SP and some controllers so we can play Pac-Man Vs.  (either on my Game Cube or Matt’s)

I think I’ll also do a podcast of the event.

Cross-posted to FB Event.

A quick demo of hooking up an Atari 800 to a PC (netbook in this case). Also shows the game Castle Crisis, which is a Warlords remake. We’ll have to give that a try some day.

Zombie blasting action has never been so good.
Zombie blasting action has never been so good.

If you’re like me, Left 4 Dead intrigued you. Its visceral game play, and truly frightening moments of terror in the game really sold me on the concept of it. However, the most horrific part of it for me was the price: $60 for 4 maps and a weak single-player game. Well, now I have no reason to complain. Until Monday, Valve has put Left 4 Dead on sale for $23 when purchased over Steam. This also includes the recently released Survival Pack that adds more missions, game modes, and most importantly, an SDK. Yes folks, expect to be buried (‘natch) in user created content shortly.

I just plunked down my money for it. It’s definitely worth $23 for the sheer amount of shrieking zombie terror it provides. However, if you’re still on the fence, Valve has also announced that the full game is available to play for free on Friday. Yes, you have until the stroke of midnight on Friday evening to sample the entire game for the relatively low cost of nothing. No excuses now. Give it a whirl.

Oh, and if you would like to join me for a game, my Steam handle is, you guessed it, CommanderTim.
