Far Cry is one of my favorite FPS games. It has incredible graphics, a truly encompassing environment, and intelligent AI. It even has “CryVision” which is sorta like a thermal vision. This was released several years ago and can now be found in your bargin bin for about $20 (which I highly recommend you pick up if you haven’t already).

I have been rather depressed by the lack of mods for it though, most are still in “production” stages or alpha releases. Well I have found something to give me my fix. Far Cry: Instincts. That is right, Jack Carver is at it again. This time he is better, stronger, faster, and more powerful.

I can’t wait.

Excellent. This is supposed to be out in September. When the first one was out it easily took down everyone’s video cards. I wonder if we’ll all be looking to upgrade in the near future with this one or if it’s based on the same graphics engine. For your sake, Derek–I hope it’s easier to beat than the first one!

Yeah, no kidding. My only complaint about Far Cry was on the last level, the scenario you ran put you at a major disadvantage. You were in a closed room with, in my case, really intelligent adaptive AI that kept flanking me with explosives.
Still I look forward to the next one and as long as I can find “God” Mode. I am going to turn on the adaptive AI again. I am such a glutton for punishment. 🙂

I prefer stoopid enemies. For example the bots in Battlefield 1942 which take your helicopter and fly it in cricles until they die. Or the hostages in Counterstrike that run against a wall when they’re supposed to be following you.

Dernit! It’s for Xbox only. No wonder the game play looks almost exactly like the original!
