Zoyx Atari 800 and Sears HeavyCouple of Atari purchases in the past week.

First the Sears Atari 2600 Heavy Sixer. I think this is now my favorite 2600 in my collection. Very good condition, once I cleaned it up. Originally didn’t work, but it was because of dirty contacts. Also the AC plug was mangled, but I fixed that up. Working great now. Came with a lot of 20 games, one being a pink labeled Laser Blast cartridge. Usually Laser Blast has an orange label. I had fun with that on the Atari Age forums.

Also purchased an Atari 800 computer with 15 cartridges. Bought an USB SIO Jack so I can upload more games to it. Atari 5200 games were based on the same chipset, so they are a relatively easy conversion. So with the converted files, and this adapter – should be able to play some of the Atari 5200 games (with a 2600 joystick!).

I think that cart is actually pink. I don’t care what the naysayers are babbling about.

No argument there. The question is, did it fade to that color, or is this a true variation of the game. I vote variation… can’t see how orange can fade to pink.

Everyone knows that pink gaming stuff never sells. Girls don’t play games! I mean, what kind of a nerd, boy would want a pink light-gun for example? Therefore, the cart must have been orange.

Look at the cute, pink avatar POI has. I just put my orange Laser Blast next to the pink. Maybe if you suck out the yellow pigment, it would turn pink. But what would of sucked out the yellow? I will have to bring them to the next gaming get-together and have an all night debate on this.

I think Kaboom and Dolphin were both pink Activision cartridges. This is what a sun faded cart would look like.

Hey! My avatar is obviously red! It’s a deep, manly red.

@zoyx: Just look on eBay. There are many example of the Pink Laserblast. In fact, there is a mint one on eBay right now I was attempting to win but the guy wants too much money.

Well looky there! I see a Pink Laser Blast, that came out of a pink box. Cool!

  8. Commander Tim Said, April 26, 2009 at 8:54 PM

Wow, that game box is as pink as POI’s avatar.

    And that’s pretty damn pink.

  9. Zoyx Said, April 27, 2009 at 4:16 AM

For the record… laser blast is a dorky game. Really easy to master.

  10. POI Said, April 27, 2009 at 6:40 AM

    ITS NOT PINK!

  11. Zoyx Said, April 27, 2009 at 6:47 AM

Yes, a very manly light purple.

    It’s more Magenta, I’d say.

  14. Zoyx Said, April 27, 2009 at 9:36 AM

I vote mauve. We should leave POI alone, this is obviously a sensitive issue with him.

  15. Madaracs Said, April 27, 2009 at 11:21 AM

Sensitive guys do love their pinks…

OK, OK, I’ll admit it. I created his icon. If you don’t know what Poi is, it’s an Hawaiian dish that is best never served. It is made from the Taro plant and is basically a starch with a nastily bland taste to it. Best served with strong tasting preserved Hawaiian fish.

I wrote this lovely poem about Poi:

    Poi is grey
    Poi is gooey
    Poi is bland
    And taste like phooey.

  17. POI Said, April 27, 2009 at 1:54 PM

    I like POI!

  18. Madaracs Said, April 27, 2009 at 1:59 PM

It is supposed to have healing powers. Maybe it will heal that throbbing magenta colored icon you have. ;-)

  19. Madaracs Said, April 27, 2009 at 2:00 PM

    shift+reload everyone. He’s healed.

  20. POI Said, April 27, 2009 at 2:03 PM

Alright bitches. you made me feel so bad I changed my avatar. Actually, Madaracs felt so bad for me he made it for me.

    you should all be ashamed.

  21. Madaracs Said, April 27, 2009 at 2:07 PM

    I lol’d.

  22. Commander Tim Said, April 27, 2009 at 4:43 PM

Ah, so now instead of a pink avatar, he has a picture of a bowl of runny baby poop.

    Awesome.

  23. Zoyx Said, April 27, 2009 at 5:56 PM

I happen to like baby poop.

  24. Madaracs Said, April 28, 2009 at 8:01 AM

Baby poop is a lot more… green than that.

  25. Zoyx Said, April 28, 2009 at 4:00 PM

That’s what the GC podcast needs… more poo talk.

  26. Commander Tim Said, April 29, 2009 at 8:03 AM

Personally, I liked the pink avatar.

  27. Zoyx Said, April 29, 2009 at 8:04 AM

The pink worked for me to. I still have it on the work computer. No urge to shift-refresh.

  28. Madaracs Said, April 29, 2009 at 9:05 AM

Aw C’mon. The greyish pinkish bland goo is totally why he chose that name.

  30. Zoyx Said, April 29, 2009 at 9:35 AM

Poi is also a form of juggling… use a cool fire poi avatar.

  31. Commander Tim Said, April 29, 2009 at 11:48 AM

I say bring back the pink.

    poi

  32. Madaracs Said, April 29, 2009 at 12:18 PM

That is WAY more pink than the magenta one.

  33. Madaracs Said, April 29, 2009 at 12:18 PM

    And nicely done.

  34. POI Said, April 29, 2009 at 12:34 PM

okay, since it’s so popular I’ve switched to tim’s new “light red” avatar.

  35. Commander Tim Said, April 29, 2009 at 12:49 PM

I for one welcome our new ‘light red’ overlords.

  36. POI Said, April 29, 2009 at 12:51 PM

It isn’t showing up for me yet.

  37. POI Said, April 29, 2009 at 12:52 PM

Maybe we should all change our avatars to pink-pony-princesses.

  38. Madaracs Said, April 29, 2009 at 1:04 PM

The Pink is too much. You need a touch of foreboding evil–or at least danger–with your pink. Like this!

  39. POI Said, April 29, 2009 at 1:09 PM

    lol.
