No, I wasn’t too young. We didn’t have Showbiz where I grew up in NY, there was a Chuck E Cheese, but I never wanted to go there. I never went in for the animatronic band thing… thought it was kooky even when I was younger. Looked like a bunch of jerky robots lip-syncing to me.

Chuck E Cheese was like the playboy lounge for kids. I thought it was cool, but then it was ursurped quickly when I went to a Circus Circus that had many many more games.
I’ve never been to the Playboy lounge. But I’m sure it was just like that?
Showbiz was cooler than Chuck E. Cheese because the music was better. They played more adult contemporary stuff. I too got bored with the animitronics and wanted to play games more. But if you had a choice… Showbiz was it.
Showbiz eventually bought the ailing Chuck E. Cheese and incorporated under CEC Entertainment. Now all Showbiz Pizza Place restaurants are gone except a few rogue restaurants (including one in Saudi Arabia) that are rumored to remain. The Rock-A-Fire band was actually used in other Pizza chains including some Circus Circus — I think. They are now all but extinct. And of course, Chuck E. Cheese’s remains–but it’s not nearly as cool.

I bet that band collector guy would get along with that weird ref at Twin Galaxies.

Creepy. Both the “band” and the dude that collects them.
We’re you too young to have seen them?
