“I’ve got an idea… formin’ in my head.”

Have you ever been out hunting for that mint copy of Toejam & Earl only to find yourself sifting through piles of used Madden cartridges to find nothing?  When you go scouring thrift stores for used video games and you stumble on 18 copies of Madden 95 does your blood pressure rise?  If a Madden disc falls in a forest does anyone hear it?

A couple of weeks ago, our beloved Play N Trade in Bloomington closed it doors for good.  What do you think were the last games left in the store?  That’s right.  MADDEN.  In fact, they were trying to give copies away with each purchase… And NO ONE wanted them.  They offered me one for $5.  I said, “I wouldn’t buy it for 50 cents!  Heck! I wouldn’t take one for FREE!”

Well here is a new concept for the saturated market that is the “used Madden game“:  SMASHMADDEN.com!

This site is brand new and will attempt to help the video-game collector by:

  1. Eliminating superfluous used and unused copies of past Madden games making it easier for the non-sports gamer to find their loot when hunting other fine collectible games.
  2. Lowering quantities of the Madden games around the world by smashing Madden games and recycling their bits thus creating demand for the die-hard Madden collector.
  3. Driving the value of existing Madden collections up.
  4. Taking donations of  Madden cartridges from around the world to entertain the world over with multiple ways of destroying past Madden games on YouTube.
  5. Feature videos of other people uniquely smashing and recycling their old Madden titles.
  6. Finding out if Madden will blend?

What SMASHMADDEN.com! will not do:

  1. Wreck any current Madden title.
  2. Destroy every copy of every Madden title.
  3. Trash talk any existing Madden collectors.
  4. Give up.
  5. Surrender.

So what do you guys think?  Thumbs up or thumbs down to SMASHMADDEN.com!?

Thanks for your input Mr. Zenozoyx or should I say FUN Killer?

I will still destroy all of the Maddens! And the Maddens will be recycled by the local garbage and recycling company.

P.S. Do you think there is anyway I could convince you not to post a bunch of links in comments without using a little html? They don’t magically fix themselves, I go in after the fact and make links. The recent comments plugin doesn’t handle URLs very well.

    I thought my links worked…

I’m waiting for game stores to refuse taking in EA annual titles altogether. They just fill up & clutter used game bins. The going out of business PnT had them all moved over to the corner.

Madden ’08 and ’09 are on the server shut-off list. http://www.ea.com/2/service-updates

I have all sorts of atari 2600 pac-mans and combats for you if you want them.

s1500: I had that discussion with Kevin (owner) and Ryan (Manager) at the PnT in Savage. They now only allow 5 copies of any one Madden game in the store. We agreed that is still a ridiculous amount of Madden… But they don’t give much for the game anyway.

Zoyx: Long links create a problem in the comment bar if they’re not preceded by enough text. Your list of links on the previous comment hid the rest of the comments because it lengthened the recent comments bar on the right. -~- The site is SmashMadden not smash combat and pac-man! That’s just wrong. Those can be sent to Albert over at atariage and he can turn them into homebrews!

I have obtained 2 copies of Madden for the N64 and two copies for PS2.

    Let the entertainment begin!
