Why not the Wii. These throw back titles are a better fit for the Wii.
Because this kind of stuff sells better on XBLA and PSN.
Is the Wii even capable of the textures and 3d effects that they put into the new Bionic Commando, Rush’n Attack and Tecmo Bowl?
It’s also a little sad that the teams will not be NFL do to the exclusivity agreement EA has with the NFL. But it is fun to see the Vikings logo changed into the likes of a Viking axe.
@Madaracs – Yep. Plenty of 3D games on the Wii. These games would look essentially the same on the Wii.
@Commander Tim – I was thinking that it was the older folks with younger kids buying Wiis… so these casual titles would fit in better with their gaming style. I guess there is a stigma attached to making a Wii game. Fear of not being taken as seriously.
@Madaracs: No, the Wii wouldn’t be able to pull off direct ports of these games. But as developers have proven in the past, you can eek some nice visuals out of the hardware, but it’s still nowhere near the more powerful consoles. (check out The Conduit for a good example of this).
@Zoyx: At this point, it’s everybody buying Wiis. The Virtual Console stuff does OK for Nintendo, as does WiiWare, but for pure volume of sales of downloadable games, the PS3 and XBLA demolish everything (with XBLA in a very solid 1st place). Same thing as the iPhone/Touch/Pad; the reason everyone deals with Apple’s totalitarian rules is because stuff sells on there.
I don’t think the Wii can do the needful.
The needful? Is that some new dance craze?
