So there is a guy remaking Valve’s Portal… in an Atari-esqe manner.  It’s cool but they are referring to it as ASCIIPortal.

This is an example of ASCII Quake.

The Wikipedia Entry for ASCII
.

The game in the video is not ASCII at all if you ask me.  Someone wanna back me up or tell me I’m wrong?

–UPDATE–

It would seem I are dumbs. There is also extended ASCII which I had forgotten about. As you can see in the comments below. After I saw the linked chart, I remembered that you can create these extended ASCII characters with the ALT key and the numeric keyboard. ╚█σ

🙂 Behold the mastery of ASCIIPortal.

There are five new downloadable games released yesterday that are available for the Wii today.

Virtual Console:

1. Secret Command: (originally for the Sega Master System) allows you to play as a top-secret commando who must venture behind enemy lines in order to save his comrades who have been captured by the enemy. (Ring a bell anyone?) 600 WiiPoints.

2.  Pulseman: a game that puts you in the role of Pulseman, a half-human/half C-Life creation, who must fight against a warped scientist and his insane gang across seven stages.  900 WiiPoints

WiiWare:

1.  Incoming: Destroy your opponent’s tank before they defeat you. 500 WiiPoints.

2. Ant Nation: A virtual ant farm right on your Nintendo Wii. The game requires you to train a colony of Super Ants so they can terrorize other insects in your neighborhood. You will zap your ants with lasers, fry them with a magnifying glass and electrocute them with lightning all for the sake of making your ants the strongest insects on the block.

3.  Bit Boy: “A spectacular journey through time in the history of video games.” This one is sure to be the star of the latest offering of Wii Games.  You assume the role of Bit Boy Kubi as he battles monsters in 4-bit dungeons, 8-bit caves, 16-bit strongholds, 32-bit labyrinths, 64-bit arenas and 128-bit worlds. 600 WiiPoints.

lego-rockband

Warner Bros. Interactive recently announced that later this year Lego Rock Band would be published. They also listed five songs that will be included in the game:

  • Blur – Song 2
  • Carl Douglas – Kung Fu Fighting
  • Europe – The Final Countdown
  • Good Charlotte – Boys and Girls
  • Pink – So What

I like Rock Band as much as the next guy, but what would be the advantage to having the characters be Lego?  I understand the Star Wars and Indiana Jones thing.  Those are cute and funny and fun to play.  There is nothing better than blasting a lego character and having them fall apart into their little lego parts.  But Rock Band?  I may be off mark here, but I think all you’re really doing is changing out characters… I guess it would be fun if they had some lego peripherals.  But then again, would that mean you would have to use a tiny little guitar?  Or would they make a giant lego guitar?  Maybe they could make C shaped lego gloves that you could wear.  What do you guys think?
