Mark your calendars…

There’ll be retro Arcade games, console games, computer games, MAME machines and more.

Cloudscout will be hosting. We’re already starting the search for T.V.s and Monitors to borrow for this event. Don’t worry, he’s got a generator in case we run out of power. 😉

This guy built a computer inside his NES. He’s also got his NES controller setup as the pointing device. He can then run an emulator to play the old skool games. I’m not sure how practical this is–as you really wouldn’t use it as a computer most likely.

Anyway, it’s nifty.

Play N Trade in Bloomington, MN (France and West Old Shakopee Rd) just took in the largest number of NES carts to date for their store. A customer recently turned in 1200+ NES games and they’re just now beginning to catalog them. I’ve met the owners, Neal and Tanya, and they assure me that they’ll call me once they are cataloged.

If anyone else is interested, I’ll make sure to call you when they open the games up for sale.

Check baby, check!

Here is the final result:

Update: 8.11.08

I had a couple of people inquire about how the video was made so I thought I’d post an update here.

This video was created using iMovieHD on my Mac. The A&E documentary style images scrolling about on the screen is called the “Ken Burns Effect”. To control the direction in which the images scroll, you cannot simply use iPhoto. The effect is random. It’s better to import the photos and movies into iMovieHD as clips. You can then effectively control the “Ken Burns Effect”, the duration at which the image will be shown and much more. It is also the only way I know of to seamlessly add video to your photo slideshow. I then added the Glitter & Bleep music track by Tobiah. I looped the intro of the track for use in the introduction. Then I took samples that come standard with iLife ’08 and mixed them into the looped intro. The intro, video effects, transitions and credits were all created using stock filters in iMovieHD. It’s kinda like Final Cut Pro “light.”

All in all, it took about an hour and a half to make. Then I uploaded it to youTube and voila!
