Make your own Atari 2600 cartridge label. It’s retro, it’s fun, try it!

I am now the proud owner of a Heavy Sixer Atari 2600. The SN is 45008K. For description of the heavy, go here. Didn’t come with controllers or the original grey power supply. It did come with the original Combat cartridge and a 2nd generation power supply.
A little beat up, but it seems to work fine. I did have to repair the AC plug. The other thing I noticed is that quite a bit of force is needed to get the controller to plug in. In the picture below, my light sixer is on the left, the heavy on the right. I have owned that light sixer since 1979.

I visited All Game in Duluth. Nice, small shop in downtown Duluth that sells all sorts of retro gaming stuff. Some really nice finds can be discovered here. Check it out next time you wander up north.

Somebody buy this. The cabinet alone is probably worth over $100.
A contender for the official game of this web site. Armagetron. Just like the original Tron game, drive your Grid Cycle so as to force your opponents into a wall or trail.
This time it is running on a 3D engine, giving you a more immersive feel. This is both good and bad. I had a tough time finding the right camera angle to play. There is an option to be in the cycle, but then it is really hard keeping track of your opponents. The option I liked was to look overhead with a “smart camera” that was always following you.
The other problem I had with it is the control scheme. The joystick is used to turn you left or right… which takes some getting used to if you played the original. In the original Tron, you just moved your joystick in the direction you wanted the cycle to go… no stearing.
Once I found a camera angle I liked, and got used to the different control layout, I had a great time with the game. There is a multiplayer/online option. I may set up a dedicated Armagetron server, if there is an interest.
