Awhile ago I posted a link to the newly released anniversary set of the Space Quest series with our faithful janitor hero: Roger Wilco. Well I ordered a copy finally and I have to say it’s pretty cool. They engineered the games to run in Windows XP natively and you don’t need to run Dos Box to get them to work. Although the 2nd, 3rd and 4th games are more difficult to play because they require keyboard interaction, I think I will ultimately enjoy them. I never got to play all of them when they were out. SQ1 comes as the re-released VGA version which was miles ahead of the original in graphics. I think this was the first one I played with Ben Lundgren back in 1991-1992. The game also comes with PDF files of the guidebooks and manuals complete with rudimentary copy protection. I give the Space Quest Collection an A+. It’s totally worth the $20 I paid. The game will run on Windows 98Se an up. Go ahead and buy it. You won’t be disappointed.
