We need your TVs!

To all of those attending the Retro Gaming Party a week from Saturday:

1.  If you’re bringing a system you need to bring a TV for it.  I have enough systems to use up every TV I have in the house which his not many.  I’ve got some loaners coming too but they’re already spoken for!  If I get more I’ll let people know.  If you seriously have an issue with bringing your own setup, please email me and I’ll see what I can do!

2.  If you have extra TVs to loan or are not bringing a system but might have a TV you can bring, that would be JUST DANDY.  Let me know.  We can work out when you can bring it by beforehand or just bring it when you come to the party.

That’s it!  The APB for all CRTs ASAP has – been – issued!

(The Party is May 30 –  A week from Saturday!)

don As many of you already know, Punch-Out was released on the Wii today!  You can now fight all new battles with many of the foes you remember from the NES days–including Don Flamenco shown here to the left.

There is (at least) one name change in the lineup.  Our beloved Piston Honda has been renamed Piston Hondo.  I can only assume this  is to alleviate any sort of copyright problems with the motor company: “Honda”.   Many of your familiar favorites are back untouched and with updated graphics.  The remaining lineup includes the likes of: Glass Joe, the aforementioned Don Flamenco, Von Kaiser, Great Tiger, Piston Hondo, King Hippo, Soda Popinski and a few new fellas to bring Lil Mac to his knees.

Reviews are mixed on Amazon but I think it should be a fun game for Wii owners.  Once I get my copy I’ll write a review here.  There are also some great photos on the amazon site.  The official website is also pretty cool but I do have one complaint.  When the site loads there is a streaker jogging across the bottom of the screen–the likes of which we’ve not seen since the 70s!

Since it opens today, I thought I’d mention a little more about Star Trek DAC coming our way next week.

This:

trek2

Will be only slightly related to this:

trek

It turns out that the developers of the game did include the new Enterprise and Romulan ships seen in the new film but it will not follow the story you see this week (or in my case tonight) in the film. Instead, they opted to do something that hasn’t been done in recent Star Trek games: Make it fun. Allegedly the developers heard about the refresh of Star Trek and were inspired by Abrams take on the franchise so they set out to make a different kind of game entirely. Not only is it non-traditional in the sense that it is not like any other Star Trek game to date, but it also veers off where the media is concerned. This is the first Star Trek game to be exclusively download only. Look for it the middle of next week on XBox Live and in the PlayStation Store.
