Where do set-designers find their inspiration? Well, for The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, inspiration comes from Nintendo!

Since it opens today, I thought I’d mention a little more about Star Trek DAC coming our way next week.
This:

Will be only slightly related to this:

It turns out that the developers of the game did include the new Enterprise and Romulan ships seen in the new film but it will not follow the story you see this week (or in my case tonight) in the film. Instead, they opted to do something that hasn’t been done in recent Star Trek games: Make it fun. Allegedly the developers heard about the refresh of Star Trek and were inspired by Abrams take on the franchise so they set out to make a different kind of game entirely. Not only is it non-traditional in the sense that it is not like any other Star Trek game to date, but it also veers off where the media is concerned. This is the first Star Trek game to be exclusively download only. Look for it the middle of next week on XBox Live and in the PlayStation Store.
Normally, I’m not a fan of online comic strips. From time to time I used to read User Friendly, the occasional PvP and was an online Dilbert follower in my early tech support days. Rarely do we plug comic websites on GridCycle but there are many out there that are actually “retro gamer” oriented or generally video-game related. And some of them are even good! Well today, if you haven’t already, you should take a look at Jefbot a webcomic that I was introduced to only yesterday when a friend sent me the link knowing it was up my alley (dot com). Go ahead and follow the link and read the following 6 comics up to today.
I think the GC Crew will enjoy it.
System Menu 4.0 for the Nintendo Wii was released yesterday, time to update. The main thing? Support for SDHC cards up 32GB. The menu changes related to this upgrade are found on this Nintendo support page.
The 2nd episode of the GridCycle GeekCast was recorded on Monday and as promised it is released to the general populous today!

Some fun things to note about this week’s recording:
- I am struggling with severe back pain and therefore on prescription Vicodin and muscle relaxants during the latter half of the episode.
- The recording quality although improved vastly from the previous week still needs work as our mic handlers tended to fiddle a bit much.
- The show is shorter than the first by a few minutes. Stay tuned after the “outro” for a bonus track.
- *If you know what real POI is, that episode title really works.
Enjoy!
